Dr Max Trott

I have spent almost all of my lengthy dental career as a Partner at Cottesloe Dental.

I retain an enthusiasm for all aspects of dentistry and particularly enjoy the interaction with many long term patients who have become friends and friends who have become patients. Our mission statement “Excellent dental care in a friendly environment” probably best sums up my approach to dental practice. Professionally I have tutored at the Dental School, acted as an Industrial Officer for the Australian Dental Association and been a member of the Australian Prosthodontic Society, Society of Periodontology, together with attendances at many dental courses.

My wife Dorothy and I have 2 grown up daughters – a psychologist and a lawyer who have both been known to exert an influence on their father! My sporting interests include football and lifesaving from days gone by and I am a life member of both the Melville Water Polo Club and the Fremantle Shivering Shags Swimming Club. Other interests include grandchildren, horse racing and jazz music.

Having spent two and a half years in Government dental practice, tutoring dental students at UWA and in part-time private practice, I joined Cottesloe Dental in 1986.

I maintain a general family dental practice with a focus on preventative and restorative dentistry. I am a member of the Australian Dental Association and several special interest groups including the Endodontic Society of WA, Dental Study Group of WA and am a foundation member of the Osseointegration Society of WA.

Aside from dentistry I enjoy a passion for sport, particularly cricket and football and getting away from the city to relax in the country with my wife and two children.

Dr. Cam Christophers

Dr. Cam Christophers

I graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1991 and worked in Government practice from 1992 - 1995.1 have been in private practice since 1995 and joined Cottesloe Dental in 1998.

Preventive Dentistry

My focus as a dentist is on prevention of dental problems. With the right knowledge most dental problems can be avoided and I strive to advise my patients of the appropriate strategies for them to employ to achieve this. I work closely with the dental hygiene team to help my patients achieve and maintain optimum dental health.

Cosmetic dentistry

Everyone deserves a beautiful smile and with todays modern techniques anyone can have one. I am experienced in whitening procedures and crown and veneer placement to achieve extreme makeovers for my patients.

Microscope dentistry

I have an interest in all aspects of dentistry, however since 2005 I have been practising with the aid of an operating microscope to assist in early diagnosis and high precision dentistry. My patients can be involved in the diagnostic process as they can see exactly what I am seeing by watching on a roof mounted television. Kids in particular love seeing their own teeth close up! Those that are interested can also watch the procedure and often comment on how interesting it is. The monitor can be turned off if necessary or you can choose to watch television to distract you if desired.

Microdentistry

Microdentistry is the philosophy of early diagnosis using the Diagnodent Laser and ultraconservative treatment of tooth decay utilising the waterlase laser or air abrasion technologies usually without the need for local anesthetic. This treatment avoids weakening teeth with larger restorations, which over the lifetime of a tooth can result in more costly and complex procedures.

Single visit crowns

Since 2005 I have been using the CEREC ( Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) CAD CAM technology to create crowns, veneers and ceramic inlays and onlays in a single visit.

Dental implants

This treatment can be used for the restoration of single teeth, bridgework or to hold a denture firmly in place. Dentures can often be completely eliminated by using this technique.

Relaxation techniques.

Your comfort is my highest priority to this end I use many different techniques to ensure your treatment is pain free. I utilise Nitrous oxide sedation or laughing gas for many treatments as it helps to relax patients. You can drive home safely after this procedure with no ill effects. For super nervous patients twilight sedation or treatment in hospital under general anaesthesia can be arranged.

My professional affiliations include:

  • Member - Australian Dental
  • Association Member of the West Coast Laser Institute Accreditation at Southbank Hospital
  • Accreditation in Nobel Biocare, m, 3i and Imtec systems of implant restoration since 1995.

I am married with three beautiful kids (Jessica, Harrison and Samuel). My hobbies include golf, scuba, hockey, marathon running and photography.

I have an ongoing interest in helping my patients minimise future dental requirements by providing optimal dental care. I look forward to treating you and your family now and in the future.

In July 1992 I completed my Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa. I subsequently went into private practice and over an 11 year period established a very successful family practice in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In search of a better life for my family, I decided to emigrate to Australia. In December 2002 I completed my conversion examinations and was awarded my certificate to practice in Australia by the Australian Dental Council and University of Melbourne.

I regularly attend continuing Education seminars and focus on bringing technology and artistry into my practice. I have experience with laser-assisted dentistry and have received training both locally and internationally on laser dentistry. I have fifteen (15) years of experience with dental implants and am passionate about cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry. Coupling the advanced reconstructive work is my love for children and I find working with them truly rewarding.

I look forward to meeting you and treating you and your family for many years to come.

I commenced working in private dental practice in 2002 after graduating from the University of Western Australia. In January 2008, I started at Cottesloe Dental and I was delighted to join as a partner in August that year.

I endeavor to make your visit as relaxed as possible, helping you overcome any dental fears whilst giving you more control in the direction and pace of your treatment. By walking you through each step I hope you will find a new confidence with modern dentistry.

Practicing all facets of dentistry, I focus on restorative, cosmetic procedures and all methods of replacing missing teeth including dental implants. I view continuing education courses as being vital in allowing me to further my skills and provide you and your family with the very best and latest in dental care. I enjoy seeing children and hope to instill good dental habits from a young age.

Away from dentistry, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, Grant, my friends and family. A recent passion has become the art of golf!
